For those of you who follow me on Instagram you know that I enjoy a good martini after a long week or while traveling. As we approach the Holiday season several friends and followers have asked where I like to go for an excellent martini in various cities. I thought I would share my opinions on this with everybody today. If you have any recommendations for 2025, I am always open to trying new places!
1. The Connaught Bar at the Connaught Hotel – London, UK

The Connaught Bar, located in London’s Mayfair neighborhood, is a beacon of sophistication and a global icon of luxury mixology. Known for its art deco-inspired interiors by David Collins Studio, the bar blends sleek metallic finishes with soft pastel tones, creating a space that exudes timeless glamour. The Connaught Bar is globally celebrated for its martinis, especially the iconic Connaught Martini. This signature drink is more than a cocktail—it's a bespoke experience. Prepared tableside from a sleek, handcrafted martini trolley, guests can personalize their martini by choosing from a selection of artisanal bitters, including lavender, cardamom, and tonka bean. Each is designed to elevate the classic flavors with a refined twist.
The martini is mixed with precision using the bar’s exclusive Connaught Gin, a proprietary blend of botanicals such as Amalfi lemon and red wine lees, ensuring a uniquely balanced and aromatic profile. The ritual concludes with a dramatic pour from a frozen decanter, capturing the artistry and sophistication that define the Connaught Bar.
This venue isn’t just about exceptional cocktails; it represents an experience steeped in tradition and innovation, making it a must-visit destination for those seeking a refined evening in London.
*My wife and I generally stay on property when we’re in London so I cannot comment on whether it’s easy to walk in. From what I have observed it is generally a very popular establishment. If you cannot get a table immediately the hotel has another bar off the lobby that is also excellent and very cozy especially on a cold or rainy evening.
